Escape the cold of Switzerland and head to the sunny Canary Islands! Join 20 other like-minded students for an unforgettable week filled with surfing, crystal clear waters, reef breaks and pleasant temperatures. When you’re not out on the waves, enjoy the good vibes and fun side activities at Kyuka Surfclub, founded by two Swiss brothers.
Join us for one or two weeks. To really work on and improve your surfskills, we encourage you to stay two weeks! You wouldn't want to leave after one week anyways (speaking of experience).
Surf
The camp includes 5 days of guided surfing. The surf trips take around 4 hours with the rest of the day spent at the camp or exploring the island. There are 4 courses to choose from depending on your level:
- Beginner Class: You have no or very little surf experience
- Intermediate Class: You have taken surf classes before and are able to paddle out and practice the pop-up by yourself.
- Advanced Class: You can paddle out into the line-up and master the pop-up, you have the fitness to paddle for long periods, and you can ride waves sideways (frontside & backside)
- Coaching: You have been free-surfing for a while now, have your own equipment, and want to improve specific aspects of your technique
Classes
Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced classes take around 4 hours (transport, theory, warm-up, and surf) and include all material (also wetsuits). All you have to bring is swim clothing, a towel, sun screen, and something to drink.
You don’t have to choose your level for the booking now, but later in the process when checking in with Kyuka.
Coaching
Advanced surfers benefit from video analysis, advice, and correction by the experienced instructors of Tight Arcs. Sessions include 2 hours of surfing at the best possible spot. Material is not included, but has to be brought along by the participant (or rented on the island). If conditions don’t fit due to wind or lack of swell, we’ll improve our technique on surfskates. Check out Tight Arcs' instagram!
Good to know
Water Temperatures
In February, the water should have around 19° C. If you want to bring your own wetsuit, bring a new 3/2 wetsuit or a 4/3 if you like it a little warmer. If you don't own one, don't worry, we have enough!
Reef
Most of the lessons take place near reefs. You can bring your own booties if you like, if you’d rather not get your feet massaged on the way in and out of the water :)
Accommodation
We will be accommodated in the newly opened Kyuka Surfclub run by Swiss brothers Sascha and Timo. Check out their instagram!

- airport transport

Transport
Getting Around
AutoReisen is the recommended rental with cars for as little as 20€ a day with full insurance coverage.
Getting There
Flight
Being an island, it’s probably most convenient to travel by plane. With the camp starting on a Saturday, it would make most sense to take the direct EasyJet connection from Basel. After booking, you will be added to a WhatsApp group with all participants to facilitate our travel there.
Flights are still relatively cheap, so better be quick!
Sailboat
Only for the adventurous: get a ride on a sailboat and get credits for the most epic trip to the camp. Hint: google “Hand gegen Koje”…
