Milestones and formative events in our association history 

May 2018

Adrian König meets Max Hesse at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) thanks to a mutual friend from Biarritz. There are dozens of student clubs at the HSG. But a surf club was missing. So, together with two other fellow students, they founded the Academic Surfclub St. Gallen.

September 2018

Adrian changes to the University of Bern (UniBE) to study law and quickly founds the Academic Surfclub Bern together with Jonas Käser, whom he also knows through his friend from Biarritz. The idea to establish a surf club at every university in Switzerland takes shape. In order to have a reasonable organizational structure, Adrian and Max found the Academic Surfclub Switzerland, which is supposed to act as an umbrella organization.

October 2018

"A surf club without a camp would be boring". Adrian and Max, together with a mutual friend, Sandro Huber, come up with the idea to organize a surf camp that should unite students from all universities in one week of networking and surfing.

End of 2018

The Academic Surfclub Zurich is founded by the ETH students Andri Bisaz and Gian Andri Morf.

March 2019

Adrian, Jonas and Lukas meet Julian, the shaper of Yard Surfboards, and his friend Severin by chance while partying. They all hit it off right away and agree to work more closely together in the future. Julian then connected the Academic Surfclub Bern with Royal Ropes. Bungeesurfing has now found its way into the club network.

Summer 2019

Academic Surfclub is running its first beginner bungee surfing courses with Royal Ropes. Paddle trainings are also new in the assortment.

September 2019

The first Academic Surfcamp with 50 participants from different Swiss universities is successfully held.

November 2019

The Academic Surfcamp for the year 2020 was fully booked within 3h.

March 2020

Covid 19 lays the club operation flat.

Summer 2020

Despite the Corona Pandemic, Academic Surfclub is enjoying a busy session schedule. Also, all sites are experiencing a strong increase in membership.

September 2020

The Academic Surfcamp can be successfully carried out despite the Covid19 situation with 84 participants from Switzerland and Germany.

November 2020

The Academic Surfcamp for the year 2021 was fully booked within 2.5 minutes. A historic success!.

December 2020

The Academic Surfclub reaches network-wide, after about five semesters of club history 300 members.

May 2021

Martin Vogel founds ASC Lucerne with Gabriel Schürch and Ladina Oester.

August 2021

The Academic Surfclub reaches network-wide, after about six semesters of club history, 500 members.

September 2021

The Academic Surfcamp goes successfully over the stage for the third time. 2 weeks filled with good waves and even with dolphins as surprise guests in the lineup!.

September 2021

Thanks to Tim Lampart, the first Swiss Championship for students in surfing started on 30.09.2021 in Alaia Bay. The first event of its kind in Switzerland where 20 male and 8 female athletes competed for the podium. Tim's OC team, numerous helpers in the staff, a lot of spectators and great weather made the day a successful event.
